The Smiths British Army W10 is one of the last fully British-made military wristwatches, built to serve soldiers of the British Army during the 1960s and early 1970s. Assembled at the Smiths factory in Cheltenham, this watch represents the end of an era for British horology — a time when precision, reliability, and rugged simplicity defined military design. The W10 remains a revered example of practical craftsmanship, combining historical significance with enduring appeal for collectors of vintage military timepieces.
Condition: Pre-Owned (very good condition)
Model: Smiths W10 / 6645-99-961-4045 (Mechanical, Manual Wind)

Crystal: Domed acrylic crystal, faithful to the original military design, providing warmth and vintage charm while allowing easy polishing if scratched.
Bracelet/Strap: Fitted with a brown leather military-style strap (replacement), designed to complement the watch’s utilitarian character. Originally issued with NATO-style webbing straps compatible with fixed lugs.
Water Resistance: Originally specified as moisture- and dust-resistant for field use; not recommended for immersion due to vintage age.
Design: The Smiths W10 embodies classic British military design — functional, robust, and free of unnecessary ornamentation. Its clean lines, legible dial, and practical proportions make it both historically significant and effortlessly wearable today.
A Watch with Character: The Smiths W10 represents the proud legacy of British watchmaking and its service to the armed forces. As one of the final MoD-issued mechanical watches produced entirely in the UK, it holds a special place in horological history and remains highly sought after by collectors for its authenticity and enduring charm.
